More information on Palm Nova
Good news for all Palm fans. Not only that we’re going to see the new operating system in less than a month on CES 2009, but it has already been showed to the carriers’ representatives. This has been stated by Ed Colligan, CEO of Palm.
According to his words, the Nova platform is of great significance for regaining their leading positions on the smartphone market. Mr. Colligan also stated that the operating system has been delivered to a selection of developers. This way, when the first devices using it hit the market, somewhere in the first half of 2009, they will have a wide variety of programs at their disposal.
Besides, the company is going to continue selling PDA devices, but won’t develop any new ones. Windows Mobile also finds place in the plans of the manufacturer, as it’ll be used with the business devices, and the Nova is destined for the mass models. Palm will also offer a version of the Treo Pro “in partnership with a major U.S. carrier” in the first quarter of the next year. Rumors indicate that it will be a CDMA version, headed to Sprint.
