A 5MP camera adorns the back of the tablet, while a 2MP snapper can be found on the front. While Android 4.4 is pre-installed, the tablet will be updated to Android 5.0.
A 4000mAh battery powers the device, which comes with 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. Thanks to the 3G support, the Micromax Canvas Tab P690 can be used to make phone calls.
"Today, we are launching our new Canvas Tab P690 – a perfect family tab. Our research has made it clear that there is a large segment of consumers who would value a technology device that can be shared between the family members, and so we’ve created a powerful yet affordable Tablet powered by Intel, aimed at helping family members enjoy the big screen of the Tablet for the things they love, including Movies, Games, Music, Reading and so on. More such products with sharply defined positioning will follow in the next few weeks and months."-Vineet Taneja, CEO, Micromax Informatics
The tablet will be available for purchase starting on June 7th at a price equivalent to $141 USD. Buyers will receive a free flip cover for the device, valued at $23 USD. Available in a brushed metallic gray color, the Canvas Tab P690 is stuffed with $47 USD worth of goodies. For example, those purchasing this slate will receive six free e-books from Kindle, 1GB of data free for two months from Vodafone, a three month premium Saavn music subscription, a free download of Angry Birds Go!, six free months from Truecaller and 1 month of free videos and movies from Hello TV.
