Michael Fassbender next in line to portray Steve Jobs in Sony flick?
With Christian Bale deciding that he is not the right guy to portray Steve Jobs, the latest name mentioned as a possible star for the biopic is Michael Fassbender. The actor is the third leading man associated with the role after Leonardo DiCaprio and Bale both declined. The film, which is being penned by Aaron Sorkin, reportedly follows Jobs during three important turning points in his career. The first Act will cover the unveiling of the Mac. That will be followed by Jobs' working at NeXT following his departure from Apple. The third Act will show Jobs backstage prior to the introduction of the iPod.
Recently, it was rumored that Seth Rogen would land the role of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. That part went to Book of Mormon star Josh Gad in last year's Jobs. The latter film, which starred Ashton Kutcher in the title role, came to theaters and left so fast that hardly anyone knew that it had been there. The movie was panned by many, including The Woz, who said that the film portrayed the two Apple co-founders incorrectly.
Fassbender is said to be in negotiations with Sony Pictures for the part of Steve Jobs, and is also talking with the film's director, Danny Boyle. The latter was the director for the hit film Slumdog Millionaire. Fassbender is known for his role as Magneto in X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past. He also was in the 2014 winner of the Oscar for Best Movie, 12 Years a Slave.
