Meizu is another China-based up-and-comer – maybe less famous to western customers than Xiaomi, but definitely spearheading its way to success in the eastern markets. The manufacturer became known for its MX (especially the
MX4 and
MX4 Pro) series flagships – powerful handsets at midrange price that boast incredibly thin bezels – and has also reaped the success of its new "entry level" phones – the
Meizu m1 note and
Blue Charm– colorful midrangers with decent specs and surprisingly good cameras, priced around the $110 mark (for China).
Well, it seems that churning out those desirable phones at such stellar prices is doing Meizu good, as the company has today revealed that it has shipped 2 million smartphones in the third month of 2015. "That's a lot of phones!" you may think, but, fact is that the company's VP has said that it's possible that
Meizu will sell 20 million units overall in 2015, so, the company may not be done yet.
What could be the catalyst for so many sales, though? Well, we've heard rumors about an upcoming
Meizu MX4 Supreme, and whispers that it will be made in collaboration
with Nokia have flew around more than a couple of times (even though they've been
denied by Meizu officials). Now, we have no doubt that the MX4 Supreme will be a great handset, regardless of whether the rumors are true or not, but if it just so happens that it really
is powered by a Nokia PureView camera, or has had some design ideas injected by the Finnish company, we are pretty sure that the phone's popularity will skyrocket (much like the
N1 tablet has attracted an unexpectedly
large amount of attention).
