MIUI 9 is starting its global rollout today to some Xiaomi devices, here's a schedule for all the rest
The newest version of Xiaomi's MIUI software is starting its slow, gradual rollout to a hefty bevy of the company's Android devices. Interestingly, even the Xiaomi Mi 2 released in 2012 is getting a taste of the new software, which is quite the impressive feat and truly a proof that China's giant is rather committed to continued software support for its devices.
MIUI 9 is introducing a hefty amount of features. including split-screen multitasking, redesigned bundling notifications and quick replies (coming later with a subsequent software update), new animated icons, a smart assistant (only available for the Chinese ROM initially), enhancements to the stock gallery app, improved performance, and more. We've summarized the more important ones in a gallery at the end of this post.
So, when are you getting it? Like previous times, Xiaomi is rolling MIUI 9 in stages and there's no guarantee that it'll hit your device right away even if you're in the first batch.
