MIUI 9 beta brings iPhone X-like gestures to certain Xiaomi models
A beta version of Xiaomi's MIUI 9 user interface reveals a number of gestures similar to the ones being used to navigate the Apple iPhone X. For example, with the MIUI 9 beta, swiping up from the bottom of the screen to the top takes you home. Want to see your recent apps? Swipe from the bottom toward the top, pause for a moment, and you will see which apps you are still open. Swiping from the left or right of the screen to the middle will bring you to the previous page.
The beta is available for those carrying the Xiaomi Mi Mix, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus. Besides adding the new gesture controls, the beta will also include some bug fixes.
Xiaomi is getting closer to offering its high-end models through U.S. carriers. Earlier this month, the company acknowledged that it is in talks with wireless operators in the states about finally invading the stateside market. Xiaomi executive Wang Xian says that this will take place within two-years, which should give everyone in the U.S. time to nail down the gestures that will be used for navigation on MIUI 9 and beyond.
