Lumia Camera app to be available for all Windows Phone models with Windows 10 for Phone?
A Camera beta app limited for Internal Use was spotted Friday night in the Windows Phone Store. A young man named Jesse Leskinen took out the AppX file and sideloaded it into his Samsung ATIV S. A screenshot taken by Leskinen reveals the typical Lumia Camera look that appeared on the screen. Some features coming with the Lumia Denim firmware update, such as Rich Capture, were not included with the app.
Leskinen feels that the app could be provided for all Windows Phone models, not just Lumia phones, once Windows 10 for Phones is released. Unfortunately, the limited hardware of the ATIV S apparently wouldn't allow any advanced camera features to load.
It could be good news for those with non-Lumia Windows Phone models who have been unable to take advantage of the features in the Lumia Camera app. Microsoft will be holding a Windows Phone 10 event on Wednesday during which we should learn much more about the platform. We could also find out more about a Phone Insider program that will allow Windows Phone users to have early access to the latest build of Windows Phone. It is expected to be similar to the current Windows Insider program.
