Lenovo announces 7-inch S5000 tablet
We just saw a new smartphone announced by Lenovo, so obviously there has to be a tablet to go along with it, right? In addition to the Lenovo Vibe X smartphone, Lenovo has announced the S5000 7-inch Android tablet. Much like the Vibe X, the S5000 is looking to be slim and sleek, but as you might expect from a 7-inch tablet, it seems as though the S5000 will be aiming for a budget market.
The Lenovo S5000 measures 7.9mm thick and 236g, which makes it quite a bit thinner and lighter than the Nexus 7 which clocks in at 10.45mm and 340g. But, the profile of the S5000 is the main talking point, because the 7-inch display is just 1280x800 pixels, and inside is a quad-core 1.2GHz Media Tek 8389 SoC, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 5MP rear camera, 1.6MP rear camera, and a 3450mAh battery. The tablet will be running Android 4.2.
The S5000 will be made available in Q4 2013 for €199 (~$262). No word on if or when the device will make its way stateside.
