Leaked Honor 9 images show a phone reminiscent of the Xiaomi Mi 6 in Blue
As it's the usual case with Chinese-origin phones, someone on Weibo uploaded a bunch of photos depicting the upcoming Honor 9. We aren't super-convinced about their credibility, considering the Honor 8 Pro (known as the Honor V9 in China) was launched very recently, and it would be quite surprising if its successor was so far in its development as to look like a complete, finished phone.
At the same time, the device pictured looks totally plausible. The design traits of higher-end Honor phones – curved back, shiny glass – are present. The dual camera setup with laser autofocus and dual-LED flash is something that could easily happen, too. The minds behind Honor could decide to bring back the Home button with built-in fingerprint scanner as well.
We'll probably see what happens with the Honor 9 in the months ahead, or sometime next year (in the worst case scenario). In the year of base model flagship phones going past $800 price tags, the world can certainly do with more reasonably priced high-end handsets like the Honor 8 and 8 Pro. The latter, in particular, looks no worse than the very nice Huawei P10, features a bustling spec sheet with as many as 6GB of RAM, and goes for around $586 in Europe.
