Latest round of Galaxy S23 leaks: brighter screens, bigger batteries and improved cooling
With 2022 slowly, but surely, drawing to an end, the eyes of all tech enthusiasts are now firmly set on 2023 - and the latter is set to begin with a bang. The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S23 (rumored to take place on February 1st 2023) is fast approaching.
A couple of days ago, we saw some of the first official promotional images of Samsung’s flagship lineup for 2023. This implies two main things. Firstly, it lends credibility to the fact that the launch is indeed imminent. If Samsung is already sending promotional materials, an announcement should be right around the corner.
Secondly, this means that we can expect a massive slew of additional leaks in the next couple of weeks. Judging by recent history, as soon as the launch event is officially scheduled, many media partners receive exclusive information that occasionally ends up being leaked online. In all likelihood, the Samsung Galaxy S23 lineup will share the same fate.
Once that happens, there is almost no room left for surprises and all the details surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S23 can pretty much be officially confirmed. Before that happens, however, we still have a couple of new bits of (unofficial) information that we believe is very likely to be true.
Today, 2 new leaks have been brought to light by @IceUniverse, a prolific Samsung tipster, with an impeccable track record. The information was shared via the latter’s official Weibo account. It was then further confirmed by other, less prominent, sources.
Furthermore, the Galaxy S23+ and the S23 Ultra will support 45W wired fast charging, while the smaller vanilla S23 is still stuck with just 25W one. A detailed breakdown and comparison is available below.

The second leak claims that the S23 will be receiving an increase in peak brightness levels - the display of the smallest S series smartphone should now come in at a maximum of 1750 nits. For reference, the current Galaxy S22 has a peak brightness level of just 1300 nits.
It should be noted that the Galaxy S22 Plus and the Galaxy S22 Ultra already have a peak brightness level of 1750 nits. Hence, this is a sizable upgrade that brings the vanilla S23 in line with its bigger siblings.
It is hardly a secret that the Galaxy S series has historically struggled with thermals. This is one of the reasons why it sometimes fails to reach the peak performance the lineup aspires to achieve. Luckily, Samsung has been working on a solution and it could finally be coming.

According to Qwaider, Samsung has “addressed this point significantly during heavy use”. The optimization of thermal performance, coupled with the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipsets that the S23 is rumored to debut with, will quickly add up and likely produce a very powerful flagship.
All of this sounds very promising on paper, but nothing is really set in stone at present. Amidst all the hype and leaks, it is possible for some misinformation to arise. Still, by most accounts, the Galaxy S23 is on the horizon and we will be able to put it to the test sooner, rather than later.
