LG X screen and X cam launched, mid-rangers with secondary display and dual cameras
Today (March 22), LG announced the global launch of its new X duo of mid-range smartphones. Rather than loading its new handsets chock full of muscular internals while driving the price down, which is what everyone else (even Apple!) is doing, LG once again experiments with its unorthodox ideas. The LG X screen and X cam bring distinct features from LG's premium handsets, the LG V10 and the LG G5, to the category of affordable phones. We're talking about the V10's secondary display and the G5's dual camera setup, which distinguish the X screen and X cam, respectively.
The LG X screen's secondary screen always stays on, letting users check information such as time, date, and notifications activity at a glance, without having to wake up the phone. Moreover, the smartphone's back is covered in a clear glass fiber material, its curved edges creating a simple, but elegant design. Specs-wise, the phone offers a 4.93-inch, 720p-resolution main screen and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core chipset with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage memory. There's a 13MP rear cam and an 8MP front cam, and the battery capacity is 2300mAh. The operating system is Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The handset will be sold in Black, White, and Pink Gold.

The LG X cam comes with a dual rear camera setup which consists of one 13MP standard angle lens cam and one 5MP 120-degree wide angle lens cam to complement it. Delivering as wide a field of view as the human eye, these cameras let you capture almost everything in your sight.
The X-series' killer features can't be found in other mid-range phones.
Additionally, the X cam has a Pop-out Picture feature that combines two separate images taken with the lenses to create a picture-in-a-frame effect. There's also the Animated Photo feature, which delivers a hybrid video and still photo, one framed by the other. This isn't a mere copy shop job of Apple's Live Photos feature, as you can see yourself from LG's entertaining sample reel (Facebook link). Specs-wise, the handset delivers a 5.2-inch 1080p-resolution screen and is powered by an 1.14GHz octa-core chipset with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM memory, a 2520mAh battery, and there's an 8MP camera on the front. The operating system is Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and the handset will be sold in Titan Silver, White, Gold, and Pink Gold.NEW LG X SERIES TO BEGIN GLOBAL ROLLOUT
X cam and X screen Offer Unique Features Unavailable on Competing DevicesSEOUL, Mar. 22, 2016 ― LG Electronics (LG) will launch its X series, a mass-tier smartphone lineup with premium features until now only available on LG’s flagship models, starting this week. The X screen and X cam will first be available in South Korea followed by key markets worldwide including Europe, Latin America and Asia.
The X series is designed to deliver exceptional value to those who want a smartphone with unique features such as Dual Cameras or the Second Screen. Like the LG G5, the X cam inherits a similar 120-degree wide angle lens to complement the standard lens. The 13MP standard angle lens and the 5MP wide angle camera on the rear of the X cam delivers as wide a field of view as the human eye.
The X cam offers Pop-out Picture feature which combines the two images taken with the standard and wide angle lenses to create a picture-in-a-frame effect. Available only on the X cam, Animated Photo delivers a hybrid video and still photo, one framed by the other (http://on.fb.me/1pPxEd5). And Panorama View automatically scrolls a wide image instead of a static image and the Signature feature allows users to add a caption or byline after taking a photo.
The X screen comes with LG’s Second Screen, a feature which was first introduced in the LG V10. The Always-on Display allows users to check basic information such as time, date and notifications without having to wake up the phone, the first mid-tier smartphone to offer this unique feature. The X screen’s look is complemented by the crystal-clear glass fiber material that covers the back. The curved edges on its sides create a simple yet elegant design.
“What’s appealing about the X screen and X cam is that each offers one great feature in a complete package that doesn’t break the bank,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Starting with the X series, we’re introducing the best in camera and display technology in a mass-tier device, something that has never been done before.”
