LG is getting ready to officially introduce what may be its very first clamshell smartphone: the Wine Smart. As you may know, LG released quite a few
Wine handsets in the past, all being simple and affordable flip phones. Now, several Korean websites, including The Korea Herald, are speculating that the Wine Smart could be the first smartphone in the Wine series, obviously citing the device’s name as the base of the speculation.
LG is currently hosting a Wine Smart giveaway in South Korea, while at the same time showing a mysterious image of the handset. We can clearly see that this is a clamshell with a hardware keypad, but that’s about it.
Samsung - LG’s biggest Korean rival - already introduced a clamshell smartphone: the Android-based
Galaxy Golden, which features two 3.7-inch touchscreen displays and is available since last year. Assuming the LG Wine Smart is indeed a smartphone, it will likely run Android, too.
It looks like LG will fully unveil (and launch) the Wine Smart at the end of September. We'll be here to let you know all about it.
