LG V5 leaks, but it's likely not what you think it is
The LG V series is special: it's a bit like Samsung's Galaxy Note series - it might not have the stylus, but it is a display of performance power and innovative ideas unlike any other phone by the company. It's also LG's most expensive series.
Well, prepare for a surprise: a phone going by the name LG V5 in rumors has leaked out in its entirety, courtesy of leakster @onleaks. But it's nothing like the powerful V series that you are used to seeing: it looks to be nothing more than a regular mid ranger with what appears to be a plastic body.
The LG V5 does indeed look like a run-of-the-mill device: it even uses a microUSB port for charging, a thing that would seem more and more like a relic in 2017 when most top-end Android phones ship with USB-C.
There is a slight twist to the design: notice how the back plate slides towards one edge, and that should be the signature design element to make the V5 stand out in a crowded space of mid-range phones.
There's a fingerprint scanner on the back as well, a first for an LG mid-ranger, and there are the dimensions of the phone as well: 148.65 x 75.30 x 7.5/8 mm (the top is a bit thicker than the bottom). Those dimensions suggest we are looking at a phone with around 5.3" to 5.5" screen diagonal.
And that's all there is to it as far as rumors go. Price should be affordable, but we honestly hope that LG does not actually put this phone in its 'V' series and changes the name to something else. Watering down a relatively successful brand name will certainly not be a good move.
