One of the cheap mid-range Android smartphones available on Verizon, the
LG Stylo 2 V is about to receive a major OS update in the coming days. Although the handset was released back in October with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board, LG decided to offer users the option to upgrade to Nougat.
Verizon has yet to confirm the information, but the source code for the Android 7.0 Nougat update has already been uploaded on the LG Open Source website.
The
Stylo 2 V received quite a few updates in the past, but most of them added security patches that addressed various exploits and vulnerabilities. Verizon is probably already testing the update provided by LG and is likely to start seeding it very soon.
LG's mid-range smartphone is now available for purchase at the Big Red for $240 outright or $0 down and $10 per month for 24 months.
LG Stylo 2 V sports a massive 5.7-inch with HD (720p) resolution, a 1.8GHz octa-core processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage.
Also, the device comes with a stylus and 3,000 mAh removable battery. On the back, the Stylo 2 V includes a 13-megapixel camera, whereas on the front side there's a secondary 5-megapixel selfie camera.
