LG G Pad 8.3 GPE updated to Android 5.1 Lollipop
The Google Play edition of the LG G Pad 8.3 is now being updated to Android 5.1 Lollipop, after being updated to Android 5.0 in late 2014. As with all OTA updates, the latest version of Android will gradually roll out to G Pad 8.3 GPE owners, but if you're in a hurry to try Android 5.1, you can download the update from the source link below. The update measures 203MB, and you'll have to download it through Wi-Fi as the Google Play edition of the LG G Pad 8.3 lacks cellular connectivity.
Although Android 5.1 Lollipop is not a major update over the 5.0 version of Android, the improvements include some small but useful touches such as numerous bug fixes, the ability to join Wi-Fi networks and pair Bluetooth devices from the Quick Settings panel, new animations, detailed Interruptions settings, and a new Device Protection system.
The LG G Pad 8.3 was launched back in October 2013, but the tablet's specs hold up nicely to this day. They include an 8.3-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1200 x 1920 (Full HD) pixels, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of integrated storage space, a 5MP primary camera, and a 4600 mAh battery.
