Kik joins the IM update frenzy with new video chat feature

We have seen a lot of updates coming to IM apps over the past few weeks. After Snapchat and Facebook's Messenger were enriched with new features, Kik is also giving its users a new tool for socialization – video chat.

The company introduced the new addition to its app in a blog post on Monday, stating that it was "the number-one requested feature" among the Kik community. In order to use video chat on Kik, one simply needs to press the toggle which is located in the upper-right corner of the screen. This new tool supports up to six people, who can use the feature while having the ability to share photos, stickers and GIFs at the same.

The Waterloo-based firm also hinted that it would further enhance Kik's video chat capabilities going into 2017. Such a move is considered as a no-brainer if the company wishes to retain and expand its 240 million userbase.
