Katy Perry "Roars" about the Nokia Lumia 1020
Nokia has used music videos before to promote its Lumia line of Windows Phones. We've seen music videos from Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Lopez and others include a product placement for a Nokia handset. The latest artist to sell out lend her talents to the pursuit of capitalism is John Mayer's on-again, off-again, on-again squeeze, Katy Perry.
The phone being promoted in Perry's video for "Roar" is the Nokia Lumia 1020. 20 million people have viewed the video so far which is quite a large numbers of captive viewers. And you don't have to be a smartphone fanatic to know that the phone in Perry's hand is the Nokia Lumia 1020. Thanks to some heavy duty promotion from Microsoft, the camera-centric Windows Phone 8 model with the 41MP rear camera is getting to be well known.

Certainly some of Katy Perry's fans will take note of the phone that their idol is using in her video. It has been these little touches by Nokia that has helped keep Windows Phone alive. Now with Microsoft's money behind it, Nokia should be able to blanket the airwaves with more ads showing off the low-light photographic abilities of the high-end Lumia handsets. And of course, there is no reason to expect Nokia to stop finding television shows, videos, movies and other product placements for its Lumia line.
