Critically-acclaimed indie game Journey gets an unexpected iOS release
Journey is one of those titles that contributed to the development of an entirely new game genre – atmospheric adventure, also known as “walking simulators.” Initially released for the PlayStation 3 back in 2012, the game was ported on PlayStation 4 and PC in 2015 and 2019, respectively.
Today's announcement that Journey is available on iOS was completely unexpected, since neither the developer thatgamecompany nor the publisher Annapurna Interactive hinted to a mobile release.
Journey won over 100+ industry awards many of which were “Game of the Year” accolades. It also received two Guinness World Records for “The Most Awards won by an Independent Game” and for being the “Most Critically Acclaimed Art House Game on PS4.”
In Journey, players will explore the remains of an ancient world to try and discover its secrets. You can invite a companion to help you in your quest or you can play alone. The developers promise gorgeous visuals and touch-responsive controls on both iPhone and iPad.
