Is Xiaomi going to offer an exchange program for Xiaomi Mi 2S owners?

The Xiaomi Mi 2S is a pretty dated phone, having been released in April 2013. A teaser posted today on the Weibo page of Xiaomi's president Lin Bin, suggests that owners of the device will be given an opportunity to update to the Xiaomi Mi 4c. The teaser reads, "This is the formula, what is the solution?" The formula says Mi 2S +? = Mi 4c.

The question mark might represent a certain amount of money that Mi 2S owners will have to pay for Xiaomi to exchange the older phone for the newer Mi 4c. The teaser says that the answer will be made public at 3pm Indian time. That works out to 4:30am EST in the U.S. this morning.

The Xiaomi Mi 2S features a 4.3-inch screen with a 720 x 1280 resolution. That works out to a pixel density of 342ppi. The Snapdragon 600 SoC is under the hood, carrying a quad-core 1.7GHz CPU and the Adreno 320 GPU. 2GB of RAM is inside, along with 16GB of non-expandable storage. The camera combo from back to front weighs in at 8MP/2MP, and a 2000mAh juicer keeps the lights on. Android 4.1 is installed.

The Xiaomi Mi 4c offers a 5-inch display with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. That means that the screen has a 441ppi pixel density. The Snapdragon 808 SoC powers the phone, containing a hexa-core 1.8GHz CPU and the Adreno 418 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside, along with 32GB of non-expandable storage. A 13MP camera graces the back of the unit, while the 5MP camera in front will snap selfies and handle video chats. Keeping the generator humming is a 3080mAh battery, and Android 5.1 is pre-installed.

Sounds like Xiaomi is going to be making dreams come true for those still rocking the Mi 2S. As soon as we hear the terms of the exchange to the Mi 4c, we will pass it along to you.

Thanks for the tip!
