Intel clarifies there will be no MeeGo handset out until next year
Nokia recently weaseled out of the question are we seeing a MeeGo device this year, by saying that there will be a MeeGo announcement by the end of it. Now Doug Fisher, Vice President of Intel's Software and Solutions Group, has confirmed what we were already suspecting about MeeGo.

Mr Fisher said in an interview that MeeGo smartphones and tablets are in the development stage, but they won't be announced until an industry trade show early 2011, and will be launched in the first half of next year. The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February is a good candidate, but so is the CES 2011 in January.

The hardware is already there, in the form of Nokia N9, and looks pretty svelte, so come on, Nokia, hurry up with your plans for the future. You know, by then Windows Phone 7, HP webOS and QNX devices like the BlackBerry PlayBook might have stolen some of your thunder.
