Instagram could be adding a slo-mo feature, a mute button and more
According to Jane Manchun Wong, a computer science student who goes by the Twitter handle of @wongmjane, Instagram is testing four new features. One is Story Reactions, including Quick Reactions. One user of the photo and video sharing app says that this has been available in Mexico for several months. Wong also states that Instagram will soon allow users to mute certain accounts that they follow. While posts from muted followers will not show up in a subscriber's timeline, the account is not unfollowed or blocked, and people being muted will never know about it.
Wong discovered these features by rummaging through the app's code. She also discovered that Instagram is working on a slo-mo feature for its in-app camera. This might not be a feature that owners of the Samsung Galaxy S9 or Sony Xperia XZ2 care about, but for those without slo-mo capabilities on their handsets, this could certainly come in handy. Lastly, Wong has found that Instagram is testing a Stories archive using a calendar view. Currently, the archive is available in a grid form which is not the easiest way for Instagram members to find their older stories.

Instagram did not confirm that any of these four possible features are coming to the app. We would point out that any one of these would be welcomed by Instagram users.
