Instagram for Android can now brag with over 5 million downloads
Instagram for Android already showed the first signs that it will become immensely popular by scoring one million downloads on day one, and now it reached another milestone - 5 million downloads in a mere six days.
And the app focusing on vintage filters didn’t even need that to get noticed. Facebook already announced it’s paying $1 billion for the company, that months ago seemed like nothing more than a big start-up.
Up until six days ago, Instagram was an iOS-only affair, so it bears pointing out that Apple’s platform alone basically gave it the value it has. But Android might soon surpass its popularity. At 5 million for six days, Instagram has kept a steady growth of nearly 1 million downloads per day.
On March 24th, when it went up for pre-order, there were 430,000 people opting to download the application before it was released. That’s telling, isn’t it? Are you using the Instragram on Android and how do you like it? Share your opinions below.
