The
LG Watch Urbane, one of the best-looking and better-specced Android smartwatches currently around, was recently
launched in the Google Store for $349, and the first units are already being wrapping around user wrists. If you've already received your unit, you might want to head over to the Play Store and download LG Call, an app that, as the name suggests, allows users to place voice calls directly from the LG Watch Urbane.
Since the LG Watch Urbane lacks cellular connectivity, the LG Call app will basically act as an intermediary between the smartwatch and the Android smartphone you have it paired with. If you're looking for the ability to place call from your LG smartwatch without going through a smartphone, you'll have to wait for LG to release the
LG Watch Urbane LTE.
At the moment, the LG Call app is only compatible with the Watch Urbane. In theory, the app should be able to work its magic with LG's two other smartwatches, the square-shaped
LG G Watch, or the rounded
LG G Watch R. This move has drawn a lot of criticism on Google Play already, but LG can still correct this slip.
