In five seconds, the Xiaomi Mi3 sells out in India
It appears that the quick hit and run sales technique known as "hunger marketing," works in India. Xiaomi let the world know that it sold out an undisclosed number of Xiaomi Mi3 units in just five seconds on Flipkart. The latter is the top online retailer in the country. The technique employed by Xiaomi involves hyping a handset during a registration period, and then putting the phone up for sale online. Usually, the number of units involved is small enough to ensure a quick sellout.
Another "hunger marketing" sale of the Xiaomi Mi3 will take place in India on August 5th, starting at 2pm. Xiaomi is taking registrations from now through August 4th, through Flipkart, for the sale.
The Xiaomi Mi3, which has recently been surpassed as the manufacturer's flagship by the recently released (in China only for now) Xiaomi Mi4, offers a 5 inch screen with 1080 x 1920 resolution. A quad-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU are under the hood, with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage inside. Back and front-facing cameras weigh in at 13MP and 2MP respectively, and a 3050mAh battery keeps the lights on. Android 4.4.2 is pre-installed.
Thanks for the tip, Jonathan!
