If at first you don't succeed: HTC Droid Incredible gets another Gingerbread update
It doesn't seem so long ago that the HTC Droid Incredible was added to Verizon's growing Android line up, offering some in-house competition to the original Motorola DROID. And while the original DROID closed out its successful long run at Verizon with Android 2.2 aboard, the HTC Droid Incredible was updated to Android 2.3.4 in September.

The first batch of Gingerbread for the device did not go down so smoothly and a number of HTC Droid Incredible users subsequently complained ofhaving issues with their phone. Instead of dealing with these problems on a case-by-case basis, HTC decided to replace the first update with a second one which recently was sent out to users of the device. The 8.6MB 4.08.605.02 patch can be found by going to Menu > Settings > Software Update > Check Now.

Besides bringing a more stable version of Gingerbread to the device, the update adds a Download Manager app that allows you to manage your downloads from the browser or email app. Under Manage Applications, a new real-time tab displays a list of active apps and the storage and memory being used by each. The update also makes it easier to select a word to edit, or to copy and paste. A long-press on a word selects the letters to be copied and a second press copies the entire word.

Certain bugs will be fixed with the update including the ability to send MMS messages correctly, and save audio files from them. And device users will be able to send a Vcard through a SMS message. A internet connection will be able to be made using Bluetooth and VZ Navigator will now work over Wi-Fi.

After the update, Droid Incredible owners will be able to change songs in the music player by clicking on Fast Forward, the camera will not operate correctly without a microSD card inserted and the City ID app has been repaired.

All things considered, the Gingerbread update might make the HTC Droid Incredible seem like a brand new phone. Of course, this was said back in September, but hopefully, in this case, the second time is the charm.
