Huawei might soon release a slider smartphone, patent suggests
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 and Honor Magic 2 are two examples of modern slider smartphones. And with bezel-less designs becoming increasingly popular, a new patent suggests Huawei could soon release a slider phone of its own.
As visible in the renders, the smartphone described boasts extremely thin side bezels which extend to the top of the display. Towards the bottom, a relatively thick chin is present suggesting that this may not be a high-end device.
In this particular case, the slider design hides two front-facing cameras which are paired with an LED flash. A similar setup can be found on the smartphone’s rear too, although if this device does ever reach production Huawei could potentially swap the dual-camera setup for a more advanced triple-camera layout.
The rear of the described device doesn’t include a fingerprint scanner. As a result, an in-display optical sensor seems likely. Alternatively, the scanner could be embedded within the side-mounted power button.

Because this is simply a patent at this stage, there's no guarantee Huawei will ever launch such a device. But if it does move ahead with it, a release as part of the Huawei P Smart series or Huawei Y lineup seems extremely likely After all, the flagship Huawei P30 & P30 Pro, and P30 Lite have already leaked out with no slider mechanisms in sight
