Huawei is now in the process of rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Honor 5X, one of the most attractive affordable devices.
Huawei’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow version is named EMUI 4.0, and comes with all of the usual Marshmallow features, such as the battery-saving Dose mode, granular app permissions, as well as Google Now on Tap. Huawei’s implementation also adds other non-Marshmallow features such as smart contact groups, a screen recording option, a 4-second message delay, and more.
The Huawei Honor 5X is one of the best budget smartphones that money can currently buy in the US. Priced at just under $200, the handset offers a lot of value by integrating hardware specs such a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1080 by 1920 pixels, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 chipset with an octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable internal storage, a 13MP primary camera, and a 5MP secondary shooter on the front.

You can head on over to our detailed Honor 5X review for a much closer look at the handset. In summary, the Honor 5X integrates decent hardware but the software left us with the impression that more could be done. Now that the handset is being updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the handset is likely to become even more attractive if you're on the market for a budget phone.
At the moment, the update seems to be rolling out to the international versions of the handset but we expect it to reach stateside phones at some point in the near future.
