Huawei Watch GT and Honor Watch get certified; will presumably run Wear OS
Huawei Watch 2

It's fair to say that Wear OS smartwatches aren’t exactly the most popular products among consumers, especially when compared to the Apple Watch line. Despite this, Huawei has consistently offered its own alternative – back in May, it announced the Huawei Watch 2 2018 – and now it seems as though the company has another two wearables in the pipeline.

Revealed by an EEC certification listing in Europe, these new wearables are called the Huawei Watch GT and the Honor Watch. Unfortunately, as is common with these kinds of listings, no actual details about the smartwatches are revealed. However, the Honor device is likely just a rebranded Huawei Watch GT that will be sold at a slightly lower price.

Now, considering Huawei has remained rather consistent with its smartwatch designs since the beginning, a circular display is likely to return. But, with the Apple Watch Series 4 set to reduce bezels significantly, the Huawei and Honor offerings will hopefully do the same. Internally, 4GB of storage and 768MB of RAM will presumably return. When it comes to the processor, though, the Chinese company will hopefully make some changes by swapping out the rather old Snapdragon Wear 2100 for the much newer Snapdragon Wear 3100 which was announced only yesterday and emphasizes battery life.

Presently, it’s unclear when Huawei and its sub-brand Honor will announce their new smartwatches. But with the former set to unveil the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, and Mate 20 Porsche Design on October 16 in London, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the brand’s next wearables make an official appearance at the event too.
