Huawei P9 and P9 Plus are official; phones feature dual Leica cameras and Kirin 955 chipset
The journey that started with a small leak in October reached its end today when the Huawei P9 and Huawei P9 Plus were officially unveiled. No more rumors, this is the real thing. The Huawei P9, which could end up as the manufacturer's first branded flagship headed for the U.S., features a 5.2-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920. Under the hood is the Kirin 955 SoC, which contains four Cortex-A72 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores. The unit will offer expandable memory.
The phone comes with 3GB RAM/32GB ROM or 4GB RAM/64GB ROM, and features a fingerprint scanner on the back. A 3000mAh battery keeps the lights on and the device sports a USB Type-C port. Stereo speakers are on board and Android 6.0 is pre-installed with Huawei's EMUI 4.1 on top, The Huawei P9 starts at $680 and will launch in selected countries on April 16th.
The phone will be available in Ceramic White, Haze Gold, Rose Gold, Titanium Silver, Mystic Silver and Prestige Gold. At 6.95mm, the P9 is thinner than both the Apple iPhone 6s (7.1mm) and the Samsung Galaxy S7 (7.9mm). Its 1.7mm side bezels are thinner than those on the iPhone 6s (4.29mm) and the Galaxy S7 (3.07mm).
