Huawei P9, P9 Max and P9 Lite leak out in a sketchy listing
Now, the specs of the upcoming Huawei P9 have leaked out on Chinese phone reseller Oppomart, and those yet unconfirmed specifications reveal that Huawei is gearing up to launch three new phones under the P9 brand: the flagship, 5.2" Huawei P9, a larger, 6.2" Huawei P9 Max, and a smaller and more affordable, 5" Huawei P9 Lite. The website uses the same placeholder image for all of the phones, showing a phone with a sleek metal body and a fingerprint scanner positioned on the back.
The single most impressive specification listed, however, is not about the processor or cameras: it is about how amazingly thin the Huawei P9 and P9 Max are shaping up to be. At just 6.4mm - if true - these would be the two thinnest mainstream phones on the market. At the same time, this will allegedly happen without huge compromises to battery life - the Huawei P9 is listed with a quite generous 3,000mAh battery. Here is a quick rundown of the specs of the three new models:
Huawei P9
- Display: 5.2-inch with 1080 x 1920-pixel resolution
- SoC: HiSilicon Kirin 950
- Cameras: 12MP dual rear cam with OIS and laser focus
- Memory: 3GB RAM, 32GB storage
Huawei P9 Max
- Display: 6.2-inch with 1440 x 2560-pixel resolution
- SoC: HiSilicon Kirin 960
- Cameras: 12MP dual rear cam, 8MP front cam
- Memory: 4GB RAM, 64GB storage
Huawei P9 Lite
- Display: 5-inch with 1080 x 1920-pixel resolution
- SoC: Snapdragon 650
- Cameras: 12MP dual rear cam with OIS and laser focus
- Memory: 2GB RAM, 16GB storage
All in all, these three new phone shape up to be quite competitive, hitting various price points. We're, however, still wondering whether that 6.2" form factor for the P9 Max isn't just too big for most people.
Chances are that we'll know very soon: Huawei is expected to unveil the new P9 series in the very near future.
