Huawei Ascend II launches on Cricket
No-contract specialist Cricket has officially pulled the covers off of a new device, the Huawei Ascend II smartphone, with Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board.

The Huawei Ascend II is the successor to the original Ascend which was one of the top devices on Cricket. There are a few notable improvements in this second-generation smartphone. Of course including Android 2.3 is one of them, but in addition to that Huawei added a 5 megapixel camera on the back. They also bumped up the processor speed to 600MHz.

The Ascend II has a 3.5-inch screen with a moderately low resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. The device will run on Cricket’s 3G network where available, and has WiFi-capabilities for those times when it’s not.

You can pick yourself up a Huawei Ascend II right now for $180 without a contract. This device will work with Cricket’s $55 monthly Android plan that will give you unlimited talk, text and web access. Tell us what you think in the comments below.
