Honor 5X (US variant) gets its Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, EMUI 4.0 included
About two weeks after rolling out an Android Marshmallow update for the international variant of the Honor 5X, Huawei today started updating the US version of the handset, which was released back in January.
On the Honor 5X, Android 6.0 Marshmallow is customized with EMUI 4.0, an interface that's also used on some of Huawei's smartphones that aren't part of the Honor brand. Thus, in addition to well-known Marshmallow features like Google Now on Tap, or Doze, Honor 5x users will also get stuff like motion controls (including flipping the phone over to mute incoming calls or alarms), personalized navigation bar, and one-hand mode. The official infographic that you can see below provides an overview of what the update includes.
Costing $199 unlocked, the Honor 5X offers many features that you don't usually get at this price, and customers certainly appreciate that, as the handset recently reached 8 million units sold (around the world).
In case you're wondering, it's not clear if the Honor 5X will also be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat, but we're going to let you know as soon as we hear anything about this.
