HTC's update plans include Android 4.4.4 for HTC One (M8)
HTC has already announced that it will update the HTC One (M7) and HTC One (M8) to Android L, no longer than 90 days after Google drops off the final version of the OS. Now, XDA contributer and HTC insider Llabtoofer has posted a chart, showing which devices should be receiving updates in the future, and which HTC models have reached the end of the road.
The Android 4.4.3 update, along with some future tweaking of Sense 6.0, is confirmed for the HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7). But because Android 4.4.4 is pretty much a lightweight update, HTC might stop its plans for making Android 4.4.3 a separate update, and combine the two for both HTC One models. This could take place in the July-August period.
As for Android L, Llabtoofer sees all 2013 and 2014 models that are part of a line, receiving the update along with Sense 6.x. But since the OS requirements are unknown, he lists these handsets as undergoing an evaluation. Remember, the HTC Advantage program promises Android software updates for a new HTC device for two years after the model is released.
Keep in mind that the chart made by Llabtoofer is not official, nor is it final. But it does look like the end of the line for the HTC One X range, and the Verizon exclusive HTC DROID DNA.
Thanks for the tip!
