HTC to pull the plug on the Sense TV app at the end of April
HTC has started informing its customers that the Sense TV app will be shuttered starting on April 30th. This feature allows an HTC One (M7) and an HTC One (M8) handset to be used as a smart TV remote using the IR blaster on the top of the device. On April 30th, the app will be be shut down and both One (M7) and One (M8) users (Android and Windows Phone) will be affected.

Once the Windows Phone and Android Sense TV apps close the doors for good at the end of April, those who have been using the apps will be pointed in the direction of Peel TV. This actually is not much of a surprise considering that the Peel app will come pre-installed on the HTC One M9.

Sense TV was essentially a branded version of Peel TV with HTC's input used to customize the app for HTC's flagship phones. HTC hasn't given a reason why it decided to close Sense TV, but we could hear more about this as we move closer to Sense TV's final days.

With Sense TV, viewers can control their television using certain HTC branded handsets, changing channels, volume and more. Users can also find out when their favorite shows are on, which episode is going to be played, and quickly turn the television to the right channel to watch the show with a simple click on a link. As we said, the Peel TV app has the same features.
