HTC names its CFO as head of sales
If HTC stands for Here's To Change, as the company suggested in an ad, the change might have to do with the game of musical chairs it is playing in the executive suite. Despite a flagship model with an innovative design, HTC is struggling. Throwing money at actor Robert Downey Jr. to appear in a forgetful series of ads didn't help. HTC Chairwomen Cher Wang said that HTC's problem is the lack of communication between the company and consumers. A few months ago, Wang added marketing, sales and supplier relationships to her responsibilities, apparently stripping them from CEO Peter Chou.
But on Monday, the Taiwan based manufacturer named a new global head of sales, and didn't have to look far from the company to fill the position. The opening was filled by HTC's CFO, Chialin Chang. The executive has a very tough job ahead of him, trying to turn the company's fortunes around. HTC reported its first ever operating loss during the third quarter and has reported 25 consecutive months of lower year-over-year sales.

Chang does have a background in sales and will keep his CFO title for the time being "until the time a transition of responsibilities makes sense." HTC is rumored to be working on its next flagship model, codenamed the M8. The latest buzz around the barber shop has the device called the HTC One 2 and will allegedly feature a 5 inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920, and a Snapdragon 800 CPU. Sense 6 is expected to be running on top of Android 4.4.
