HTC executive says it will remain the top seller of Android phones in Taiwan after Q4
Jack Tong is the President of HTC North Asia. Mr. Tong expects that his company will ship more smartphones in Taiwan during the current quarter, than it did during the third quarter of this year. And that sequential gain should be enough to keep HTC on top of all Android vendors in Taiwan, for the three months ending in December.
The HTC executive notes the huge improvement it is seeing in sales. For example, it took one year for the original generation HTC One and HTC Butterfly to ring up a total of 1 million units sold in the country. This year in Taiwan, while HTC will score 1 million units in sales of three models including the HTC One (M8), HTC Desire 816 and HTC Butterfly 2, this will take place in less than six months.
HTC's focus in the country for the current quarter, will be on the camera-centric HTC Desire EYE, and the HTC Desire 820 dual-SIM. The former is priced at $456 USD and includes a 13MP rear-facing camera, and a 13MP "selfie" camera in front. The latter features a 5.5-inch display, and is powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 CPU. This model is priced at $324 USD. Also expected to make a showing in the country during this quarter is the Nexus 9 tablet, built by HTC.
