HTC appoints a new chief content officer
In February, HTC acquired Saffron Digital, a London-based company that specializes in streaming video. Particularly, Saffron Digital specializes in delivering video to mobile devices. And that was what made them a viable acquisition for HTC.

Now, HTC has appointed Saffron's former CEO, Shashi Fernando, as their new chief content officer. HTC's CEO, Peter Chou, said that "Shashi has tremendous experience in the content industry and I'm excited to have him leading HTC's content strategy."

And with this appointment, HTC stresses that they are focusing on content as a "pivotal component in its devices." We are not sure if a unique mobile video solution is in the works, but Fernando's experience should lead to more successful features, following the trend set by HTC Sense.

While Fernando moves to HTC's headquarters in Taoyuan, Taiwan, Saffron's COO, David McDonald, will replace him as CEO of Saffron Digital. They will then work directly with HTC as a strategic partner.
