The HTC Zara, we noted last week, looks like a mashup between the HTC One and the HTC Desire. Therefore, it isn't much of a surprise to hear the rumor that the Zara will be actually named the HTC Desire 601. And the specs resemble those of the HTC Desire 600 with a 4.5 inch 540 x 960 resolution screen, the dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of native storage that can be expanded by using the microSD slot on the device. The rear camera weighs in at 8MP and could be an UltraPixel shooter. Beats Audio is aboard and Android 4.3 will be installed with Sense 5.5 running on top. Expected in the fourth quarter, one carrier where you might find the HTC Desire 601 when it is released is Sprint.
Meanwhile, a tweet from evleaks reports that the HTC Zara mini will be known for the time being as the HTC Z3. There is some speculation that the final title of the phone will have the Desire name in it. The specs here are exactly what you might expect from a mini version of the HTC Desire 601 starting with the 4.3 inch 480 x 800 resolution glass, dual SIM slots and a dual-core 1GHz processor. 512MB of RAM is on board with 8GB of native storage. A microSD slot is included. The cameras on the HTC Z3 are 5MP on back and 1.2MP on front. A version of Jelly Bean will power the phone. Like the HTC Desire 601, we should see the HTC Z3 unveiled in a few months.
