HTC kicked off the roll-out of Android Oreo for the U11 Life
late last month, but the update was only available for unlocked units. Customers who bought carrier-branded smartphones usually have to wait a while longer for major Android OS updates, and the
HTC U11 Life wasn't an exception.
Luckily, HTC U11 Life owners won't have to wait too long, especially if they bought the T-Mobile variant. The US carrier is now pushing out the highly-anticipated
Android 8.0 Oreo update to all HTC U11 Life smartphones.
Keep in mind that this is a fairly sizeable update (1.32GB), but you'll also need to make sure that your phone's battery is at least 40% charged. The update can be downloaded via Wi-Fi or mobile network, but the carrier recommends using the former.
It's yet unclear what version of
Google's security patch the update includes, but these can be added afterward, so it's not a big issue it doesn't come with the latest patch.
