HTC just got its newest phones - the U Ultra and U Play - off the press release prints, and they are really something completely different from what it has been doing for the past few years. No more unibody metal design editions for Nth year in a row. The new U line phones have "organic symmetrical glass design," meaning they are built on a sturdy metal frame, sandwiched between two Gorilla Glass 5 slabs front and back. The U Ultra will also have a sapphire glass edition, presumably even sturdier, and coming at a later date for a higher price. So, how much for HTC's newest flagship and midrange entries?
The HTC U Play will be available in different markets in Q1, with your choice of either 3GB and 32GB storage, or 4 GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, starting at about $440. The HTC U Ultra, which comes with either 64 GB of internal storage and Gorilla Glass 5, or in a 128 GB version with sapphire glass, will be available for pre-order today in the US, at $750 for the base 64 GB version. The sapphire glass model of the U Ultra will be coming at a later date, and will cost the equivalent NT $ 28,900, or about $900. Both phones come in blue, pink, white and black hues to choose from.
