HTC Runnymede rumored to pack a 4.7-inch display, Beats headphones to come out of the box
According to some insider information obtained by Pocketnow, HTC is working on a new Android smartphone that is shaping up to be a true multimedia powerhouse. Codenamed HTC Runnymede, the device is rumored to stand out with a massive 4.7-inch WVGA display, and a pair of Beats headphones will be included in the set.
The list of rumored hardware specs also mentions that the HTC Runnymede will be powered by a 1.5GHz single-core chipset, namely the Qualcomm MSM8255, backed up by 768 megabytes of RAM and 16 gigs of storage. An 8-megapixel camera will allegedly grace the device's back while the 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter will be of good use when you are in the mood for a video chat. In addition, the main camera on the smartphone is rumored to boast a back-illuminated sensor and a F2.2 lens, which will supposedly allow it to capture video at 60 frames per second and to take great-looking photos even in low light conditions.
Overall, the HTC Runnymede appears to be pretty similar to the rumored HTC Titan, at least in terms of hardware. When it comes to software, however, the former is said to be a member of team Android while the latter is a Windows Phone Mango device.
It is speculated that the HTC Runnymede will be ready to hit the shelves around the holidays, yet which carrier will be interested in offering it is not yet clear. Still, if huge displays and punchy beats are your cup of tea, now you have a smartphone to look forward to.
