HTC EVO 4G to get Gingerbread update on June 3rd?
The first U.S. handset to work on Sprint's 4G WiMax network, the HTC EVO 4G is almost a year old. And what better way to celebrate than with a upgrade to Android 2.3. According to a leaked memo, the upgraded OS will become available for a manual installation starting on June 3rd. Three days later, if you haven't upgraded your EVO 4G, the phone will ask if you want to upgrade. Say 'Yes' and the upgrade will commence.
The update will also take care of some bugs. No longer will SMS messages be sent to the wrong person by random. When writing an SMS message in Spanish, the word 'Me' will be replaced with 'Yo'. After the Android 2.2 upgrade, multiple Gmail accounts stopped syncing, a problem that will be rectified with the Ginbergread upgrade. Another bug that prevented batteries that were run down below the low battery/power down level from charging will also be fixed.
Remember, the June 3rd date of the manual upgrade has not been officially announced by Sprint, so on Friday go to Menu > Settings > System Updates > HTC Software Updates > Check Now > OK >Yes and hopefully you will find a serving of Gingerbread for your HTC EVO 4G.
