HTC EVO 4G continues guest star role on FOX's Fringe with Qik in supporting role
The HTC EVO 4G has been hanging around the fringe of stardom by appearing on the hit FOX show "Fringe". In the latest episode, the 4G enabled handset was joined by the Qik application and the phone's front facing camera to show off the video chat capabilities of the Android phone. Team member Astrid Farnsworth passed along some information to Peter Bishop via Qik. Now had the pair been using an Apple iPhone, they might have had to look for a Wi-Fi connection before using that smartphone's Face Time feature.
Such product placements are worth untold thousands to a carrier and phone manufacturer. The more popular the show, the more impact the appearance has on sales and the more "buzz" that follows the phone. We wonder what impact a placement on a mega-hit show like "House" would be worth. A few seasons ago, the brilliant Doctor received an Apple iPhone as a secret-Santa gift, but the handset received only seconds of air time.

"Thank God we don't need to find a Wi-Fi connection, Astrid"
