HTC Dream owners can now get a free HTC Magic on Rogers
Last week we first heard that Rogers will be updating the firmware on their HTC Magic and HTC Dream units with the HTC Sense UI early this year, and then by mid-year the Magic would get the Android 2.1 treatment, but that would leave Dream users out in the cold. Then reports came in that there may be an upgrade path for Dream owners to get a Magic. Now it appears that Rogers will be doing just that, as they have announced today the upgrade details. In part, current HTC Dream owners who activated by Dec 31 '09 can receive a free HTC Magic (a $599 value) by calling Rogers directly or by visiting their web site by Jan 26th, as this is not done in-store. You will have to resign a new 3-year data contract, but Rogers will wave the $79 upgrade fee and $35 administrative fee. Furthermore, you can keep your HTC Dream to use on another line, or even sell it if you want. Sounds like a deal that's hard to pass up.
