HTC Desire to get served Froyo on June 23rd?
In one of those convoluted messages that goes back and forth and in the end means very little, the owner of an HTC Desire was calling HTC customer service about the lack of storage space for his installed apps on his phone. The rep said that there was not much he could do to help, but then added that a new update was coming out on June 23rd when apps will be able to be stored on microSD cards. The rep apparently told the caller that, "You never heard this from me". Why all of the cloak and dagger? Because the conversation is obviously about a Top Secret launch date for Android 2.2 on the Desire. Of course, we would not consider this date to be the most solid info, but think of it instead as a time frame to keep an eye on. And the Android 2.2 update could even have an effect on smartphone sales around the globe as those considering the purchase of an Android model need to decide whether they want Sense UI or MOTOBLUR, which will probably delay Froyo and future Android upgrades, or stick with units running stock Android which quickens the time needed to upgrade the phone. And you Motorola DROID owners standing there in the corner, do you consider June 23rd to be "in the near future" which is when Motorola said that its' current flagship model was going to get the upgrade?
