HTC DROID ERIS to receive one more firmware update before oblivion
It looks like Verizon's HTC DROID ERIS is not forgotten yet, given the slew of high-end Android devices that appeared in the carrier's catalog over just a few months span. A leaked internal document shows that the handset is getting a firmware update with some minor enhancements starting midnight 7/16. It might take a few weeks for the firmware batches to reach all phones, so stay calm.
The update improves on contacts management – it will be easier now to add your contacts to speed dial, or sync with various popular services such as Backup Assistant, ActiveSync, Facebook, and Gmail. The new firmware should also better the audio controls and MMS functionality. And just what is an OTA update without some bug fixes? The last one for the DROID ERIS aims to enhance and stabilize the weather widget, as well as to allow the phone to be paired with a Jabra Bluetooth headset.
Nothing spectacular, but for a discontinued handset this is a welcome update nonetheless.
