HP TouchPad 4G available for pre-order on Amazon for $699.99; HP offers $50 worth of apps for free
The HP TouchPad 4G is now available to be pre-ordered on Amazon for $699.99 without a contract. As we reported, the TouchPad 4G should launch at the end of this summer with AT&T's HSPA+ frequencies on board and a faster 1.5GHz dual-core processor under the hood, up from the 1.2GHz seen on the Wi-Fi only model. The price is roughly $100 higher than the price of the latter model. If you reserve one of the tablets from Amazon, it will be shipped to you when it is received by the on-line retailer.
HP has been trying various promotions to jump start sales of the Wi-Fi variant of the tablet and those who purchased the HP TouchPad between July 1st and August 4th are entitled to a $50 credit from the App Catalog. As you frequent app shoppers know, $50 goes a long way at an app store. To see if you qualify for the freebies, or want to know how to redeem the credit, click on this link.
