Nokia fans who already bought HMD's new Android smartphones are probably excited for the upcoming Android Oreo updates the Finnish company has already confirmed. All four Nokia-branded handsets are expected to be upgraded to Android Oreo in the coming months, but at least three of them will receive the update by the end of the year.
HMD's General Manager for Australia, New Zealand, and Indonesia, Mark Trundle (at 5:15) confirmed that
Nokia 3,
Nokia 5 and
Nokia 6 will be running Android Oreo by the end of 2017. The company's flagship,
Nokia 8 was spotted online with the new version of Android on board, so we can safely assume the smartphone will receive the update very soon.
If HMD keeps its promise, the
Nokia 3 could become the cheapest smartphone to run Android 8.0 Oreo, thus making it even more popular among Android fans. At the opposite tier, the Nokia 8 might become the cheapest flagship to run Android 8.0 Oreo when HMD decides to release the update.
Although the update will first be rolled out to unlocked devices, the Finnish company may push carriers to release Oreo as quickly as possible to all compatible Nokia smartphones.
