Google sends out invites for October 9th event; Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL expected to attend
Late last month, we passed along a report from "reliable sources" that said Google would be holding an event in New York City on October 9th. Today, Google made it official by sending out invitations to the event that include the hashtag #madebygoogle. We expect the company to unveil the worst-kept secret in mobile, the heavily leaked Google Pixel 3 XL and the smaller Pixel 3. A hijacked shipment of Pixel 3 XL units ended up for sale in the Ukrainian black market.
Actually, the last we saw of the Pixel 3 XL, it was taking a Lyft to an undetermined location. The phone is expected to carry a notched-screen sized at 6.2-inches or more, and will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. 4GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage should be inside. As usual, Google will show you how one lens can be as good as two by deploying a single 12MP sensor on back. The Pixel 3 is expected to feature a 5.5-inch un-notched screen. Both models will support wireless charging and have Android 9.0 Pie installed.
There is speculation that the Pixel 3 will be priced at $649 with the Pixel 3 XL tagged at $749. We should know all of the specs, pricing and availability on October 9th. If you have an interest in either model, circle the date on your calendar.
