Google promises to bring back Maps support to the Apple Watch at a later date

As some of you probably read, a couple of important apps have suddenly lost support for the Apple Watch, even though users haven't been notified in any way. Google, Amazon, eBay and Target have all pulled their main apps from the Apple Watch store for unknown reasons.

Moreover, Google Maps app no longer supports Apple Watch. Despite the fact that some believe apps shouldn't be used on smartwatches, it's one less functionality that you can take advantage of.

In any case, if you own the Apple Watch and felt disappointed that Google no longer supports Maps on the wearable, don't despair yet. The search giant promised to bring back Maps support to the Apple Watch at a later date.

The reason Google pulled Maps from the watchOS seems to have something to do with the limited functionality of the app on the Apple Watch. Google Maps lacked quite a few features in comparison with the iOS app.

It's unclear how many Apple Watch owners used Google Maps on a regular basis, but since the developer didn't notify anyone about removing the app, we assume the install base is not that large, to begin with.
